Ferreyros acts as the official representative of Caterpillar in Peru with an annual revenue of over 1 billion dollars. We have been working with Ferreyros on various human-centered projects for 4 years. The “Cosmos” project focuses on  the digital product design and technological development of a tailored  experience focused on B2B clients: an Extranet that consolidates high-value  digital services and information in one  single channel for a billion dollar company.

When people are the heart of your research, ideation, design, and iteration process, results that exceed expectations are obtained. The human-centered design approach puts people at the core of decision-making. We carried out in-depth research using various actions and dynamics that allowed us to gather qualitative and quantitative information in order to understand users’ behavior, mental and emotional models, the vision, sustainability, and scalability of the business, and finally the technological feasibility.

The challenge.

The challenge was to design a B2B client oriented digital platform for Ferreyros’,  official Caterpillar representative with an annual revenue of over 1 billion dollars.  A channel that consolidates high-value information and services in a single platform, designed to deliver intelligent solutions. The project’s goal was to research, design, and develop a platform focused on the needs and motivators of its users. In this way, we were able to build customer loyalty and strengthen the business relationship, having a direct impact on the company’s results.

Deep dive: listening to Ferreyros' clients.

We spoke with Ferreyros’ clients to understand which business units were interested in having high-value information consolidated in a single channel. Once identified, we understood that the defined profiles included collaborators from multiple areas of the companies that are Ferreyros’ clients. We talked to stakeholders from finance, operations, commercial, services, among others, understanding the needs that each company had when it comes to consolidating digital services under a single channel.

Ideation, co - creation and brainstorming.

We had multiple ideation and co-creation sessions, both with the Ferreyros team and their clients, in order to find solutions that answered user needs. We sought to define possible paths that would allow Ferreyros’ clients to easily interact with the consolidated information on the platform, offering a clear end to end experience.

High-value information in real-time.

Within the different needs and patterns we identified in the research stage, we understood that it was of utmost importance for Ferreyros’ clients to be able to visualize crucial information about their machinery fleet. This included details of each equipment (consumed hours, charging hours, empty hours, and more), as well as the possibility of requesting maintenance, spare parts, and other high-value services.

After a continuous collaboration process, where we intertwined research, design, and technology, we were able to materialize the vision of Ferreyros stakeholders, achieving excellent results together with their entire team.

Working with Seek was a very rewarding experience of learning and growth. We started with a research process that helped us find key action points that the team capitalized on in a long-term project. Thanks to the research methodology, we were able to identify very important findings that acted as the main input for a proper design and technological development, satisfying our clients’ expectations. Today we have an online platform that functions as the axis of digital communication between our clients and Ferreyros, a very useful tool in these times.
